She loves the freedom to explore different mediums, and we (as parents) love Maggie's support & encouragement! Plus she is learning some French along the way! - February 5, 2024"We have been loving Miss Maggie and her summer classes for the last two years! Not only does she offer a great creative space, she is knowledgeable and fun! My son gets to play and make art in a safe and small group setting. He gets to be himself around a mix of ages and interests while gaining social skills and artistry. Maggie also speaks both English and French with the children so this is a bonus!! I highly recommend these camps at Wingspan! Trust me, you will improve your living room decor once your child brings home their newest canvas or creation!!"- Erbear
- July 28, 2022"My daughter had a wonderful and fulfilling experience at the summer French/art camp. It nurtured her creativity, language skills, and social wellbeing. Maggie knows how to magically combine learning and fun in a safe, integrative environment. Great and unique break from the normal routine for the kids, and I would highly recommend it :)"- Jennijean
- September 8, 2021"My 6-year-old attended a week of art/French camp at Wingspan this summer and absolutely loved it! He was positively glowing after the first day and said on the way home 'I love Wingspan SO much! Can I go there instead of regular school?' In just one week, he thrived and developed a focused appreciation for art and art-making, producing a portfolio of work including painting on canvas, paper mache, and many drawings and paintings. Later in the summer, we were fortunate enough to attend an art workshop where he was able to try mural painting, too. I can't say enough about how enriching the experience was, and recommend it for all kids! We can't wait for next summer to spend more time at magical Wingspan."- sbolt

- June 16, 2019"Maggie is warm and welcoming and celebrates each child. My daughter loved the French summer camp, creating art in a real art studio in the midst of other studios. Their time at the lake was the highlight for her, combining her love for art, nature and water. And it was wonderful for her to have the opportunity to speak French, her first language, in a class setting."- Dancing Light

She’s been teaching me art, reading and English since I was 8 years old and to this day I am 23 years old all I can say is I am so happy to have an amazing art teacher like her in my life her program is super good for beginners and experts please don’t let your kids miss out on this amazing opportunity with Maggie."- Hna04070
- March 2, 2019"I teach high school art. Maggie came into my classroom as a visiting artist. She came prepared with an online slideshow of her artwork, live examples and had an activity planned for my students on abstract art, that she walked them through. She engaged my students and we learned a lot from her visit!"- Cloudnine
- December 31, 2018"This is by far the coolest and most fun place to make art in Burlington. Not only do you make awesome crafts, you learn French doing it! I had the utmost pleasure of working beneath Maggie as an apprentice this past year and it was the highlight of my summer. The enthusiasm for art and all things French radiates in this amazing studio. It does not matter how old you are, walking into Maggie’s studio, you will leave with more appreciation, compassion, and love for art. The kids learn to express themselves and be accepted for who they are, learning confidence-building techniques through other academics the program provides such as math or French. The camp days went all too fast having a brilliant fun packed day while also staying centered and focused. This is the best camp you could ever take your child, it’ll undoubtedly leave lasting impressions of a fun summer for anyone."- pehurley
- September 25, 2018"My 5 and 6 year olds attended a week of the French Art camp with Miss Maggie and had a BLAST. It was fun, unique and creative but what the kids enjoyed the most was that they were in a real art studio with real artists. Although the camp officially ended at 11:30 am Maggie was VERY accommodating and helped to arrange aftercare so my kids could stay a bit longer (and I could squeeze in a bit more work!) I highly recommend taking a class or camp at Wingspan!"- STCAR
- July 31, 2018"I had the pleasure of taking several painting classes from Maggie. I am a total beginner. Maggie is a perfect balance of being an excellent instructor, teaching the fundamentals of painting, and also allowing a student to express themselves. We had fun and I learned a lot. Especially an appreciation of what it takes to be a true artist. Maggie’s talents as an artist are an inspiration."- virginia foster
- May 10, 2018"My 4 little ones had a blast with Maggie during her April camp. They were busy being creative, having fun, and learning some French! They came home super excited to show me what they created and learned. And they are excited to be spending a few weeks at The Wingspan summer camp this summer."- pitale4
- March 25, 2018"Hi. I'm a 12 yr old kid who loves these camps. I love everything about them. They're so much fun. I was the one who made up the 'Girl Power' camp for this summer and also there might be a lemonade stand at all of the camps which was my idea too and Ms. Maggie helped me with the idea. Maggie is a great painter and she teaches us to paint and speak French. I love the Imagination Station in the studio and kids can feel free to bring some stuff from home to give to the Imagination Station, a station where kids use their brains and imaginations to make all kinds of stuff. Thank you for listening, Esther the Bester!"- lemonadebird
- March 7, 2018"My son who is 7 years old loved Ms. Maggie and the activities he did at Wingspan’s summer camp in 2017. It seemed like there was the perfect balance of creative things in the studio and running around outside. It also helped that he had a friend at camp who made it fun too. I would definitely recommend Ms. Maggie! It was one of my son’s favorite camps last summer and he can sometimes be picky about camps."- rjtaylor27
- December 30, 2017"My 10 year-old took a 12-week after-school immersion French art class with Maggie. Maggie is kind, patient, and flexible, but firm about keeping the kids focused and not goofing off. The kids made great art pieces and learned French songs and some other basics. She gave suggestions for reinforcing the learning at home as well. Her spoken French is very easy to understand and inspires me to want to re-learn the language myself!"- GRose
- June 2, 2017"Maggie does a wonderful job integrating creativity into classes she leads, whether they're focused on French, gardening, or art projects. She is a dynamic teacher who the students at the Sustainability Academy have come to love deeply. She brings puppets, music, dance and more to her work, along with plenty of energy and adaptability."- cwatkins
- May 14, 2016"My daughter loves Madame Maggie! We took the French Immersion class for preschoolers and it was perfect. I was relieved that the class was very open ended even though the children were being exposed to such classical subjects as fine art and foreign language it was presented in a fun and vibrant manner. True to the spirit of art she allows the children to do their own interpretations of the subjects and explore with the different mediums to create their own masterpieces."- Papillon
- March 9, 2016"I’m so excited to send my boy to camp or after school with Madam Maggie. What a wonderful gift for our language-starved American children to have French with art. Also, Maggie gets kids. I love how she gives them space to create and be their own person, while giving them the support they need to create."- Kelly KD
- February 24, 2016"My daughter had a wonderful time at Madame Maggie's studio over the holiday break. She attended the 'James and the Giant Peach: Just peachy!' camp and very much enjoyed the diverse art projects that Maggie was ready to do with the children. From painting and doing 'blind drawings' to making snow globes and at the end acting out the story! ...and learning 'un petit peu Francoise'. My daughter loved it!"- Monikita

- January 30, 2015"I took adult French from Madame Maggie after a long hiatus from language study, and she was a perfect teacher. Patient, fun, knowledgable, and with an innate curiosity that makes her successful at teaching all ages. Also a wonderful artist, I think she brings new ways of seeing to her classes. The learning atmosphere is vibrant and laid-back, yet effective. I was so sorry when the class ended. Highly recommended!"- gigi
- January 2, 2015"Madame Maggie has a beautiful studio in the heart of the South End Art District. The space invites creativity, and Madame Maggie offers abundant supplies for students to express themselves with. I had the pleasure of guest teaching for her last summer, and was impressed with her gentle and thoughtful approach to teaching, her joy in supporting students in their art and language studies, and her generosity in sharing her studio space."- Miss Annette
- May 27, 2014"Maggie is a gifted and talented teacher. She teaches with an open mind and heart. My children have been the lucky beneficiaries of Maggie's talents for many years. She is able to get all the creative juices flowing from them and have a really fun experience at the same time. Her artistic knowledge of color and textures is limitless and helps the kids to explore past what they think they know. My only regret is that we will not be in Vermont this summer for my kids to get a "Maggie class.""- AmalieMatthews
- May 27, 2014"My two year old and I recently attended FRART with Madame Maggie and it was fantastic. She is great with the kids and encourages everyone - including the parents (I know I struggled way more than my daughter :) The art projects were always fun - we have them hanging all over our house. I will definitely be taking another class in the future and look forward to learning more and more along with my toddler!"- ecpeden

Maggie makes learning French fun and incorporates it into art projects that the kids love. It's a great way for both adults and children to learn French."- SEMommy
- April 8, 2014"L'ours est allé sur la montagne. That is what I heard as my 4 year old son and I were painting 'The Bear Went Over The Mountain' in Madame Maggie's class. My wife and two kids have been going to Madame Maggie's for over a month and already, my two year old will let out some French around the house. It is so adorable when she says 'ohh la la.' They always have an exciting story for me when I come home from work."- blmopus67

- December 8, 2013"My six-year old son took Madame Maggie's French, Art and Geography class and loved it! I was a bit skeptical at first because the other children in the class were older and spoke fluent French. My son spoke none at all. As it turned out, this was not a problem. Maggie uses the immersion method and is very organic in her approach. She was able to keep each child engaged and challenged. Truly amazing considering their different levels. Plus, they created wonderful art with high-quality materials. One day my son left class with a large and beautifully painted canvas. Many other wonderful projects too. I highly recommend Madame Maggie's classes and camps for introducing your child to French language and culture."- AmyC
- November 9, 2013"I really did like the manga camp because we did so many interesting projects and I even made my own comic! What I like about this camp is they have a manga comic so you know about manga drawing and a manga drawing book which is very helpful at times. I honestly have no negative things about this camp. Maggie the instructor was really nice, very supportive and her instructions were clear. Sure cannot wait for the next camp!"- Hellyerz
- October 14, 2013"Wingspan Studio and Madame Maggie are a real treat! I have taken Intermediate Adult French with Madame Maggie, and her studio is warm and welcoming and her teaching style is interactive and fun. Maggie creates a wonderful sense of community among her students and facilitates the group with ease. I can also vouch for her work with youth in the community as Maggie helped connect me with educators in the Burlington School District when I first moved to the area. I highly highly recommend Wingspan Studio for both adult and youth classes in the arts and French!"- solsun713

My girls enjoyed meeting new friends and creating together. When at Maggie's camp they had their first opportunity to paint on canvas...They came home so excited to paint and create more and more! Time at Wingspan enabled the creative spirit in my children. Wingspan camp is a glorious opportunity to open & share one's artistic self! At the same time fun and laughter was shared by all. From a parent's perspective, it is so nice Maggie shares the day's experience by posting photos via parent approved social media. It was such a treat to see my kids enjoy their day in pic. We are planning on going by Wingspan during the south end art hop!"- bclimbergirl

In addition to her talents as an artist (and others too numerous to list here), she's a dedicated educator and taps into each person's unique talents and way of approaching the world to help them appreciate and learn. In addition to our friendship, she has helped me by giving me the great gift of tapping into my own creativity."- lhselby

- July 15, 2013"My son (7 years old) has had a great experience this summer with Maggie Standley and friends at Wingspan Studio in Burlington’s South End art space. He attended a class that focused on art, music and nature—which led to a culminating performance that included African drumming and simple yet brilliant costumes. Not only did he connect with new friends and enjoy working with Miss Maggie, he brought home impressive art projects and a mind full of creativity for more. I was also impressed by the diverse clientele and pairing of instructors, as my son was able to meet youth and adults from throughout the city. This week, he has returned for a second venture with Comic/Manga camp, and I look forward to hearing daily about what he is learning through his experiences. I would HIGHLY recommend this camp to anyone interested in exposing their child(ren) to transformative experiences that link art, nature and language into beautiful expressions of both individuality and of social cohesion."- Karen N

- June 24, 2013"These camps are wonderful! It is great how Maggie manages to weave together the French language and culture, together with some wonderful painting. - May 31, 2013"After thirty years of only speaking occasionally when traveling to Montreal, I decided to try French with Madame Maggie. If you are thinking about doing it, I highly recommend you try her class! I took French for 7 years as a young person but never really mastered speaking French freely. I tried the Intermediate class and could not believe my brain resurrected words and phrases. Madame Maggie makes the most comfortable class. I feel no worries about fumbling and mumbling to try and speak. She has also created a great community of really interesting people in the area - my classes have had former and current aid workers, ESL teachers who have taught all over the world, expatriates who speak multiple languages. We took a trip recently to Chambly, QUE together - a guided tour en francais, good food and opportunity to immerse at least for a day. This is a great opportunity and you should try it!"- LearningAgain
- May 31, 2013"This past spring break both my daughter and son, ages 8 & 7, attended Wingspan's camp French and African Art. Historically my daughter has been a malcontent of the highest order. She has attended camps before. I've picked up a happy smiling girl and by the time we get home, she tells me she hates camp and doesn't want to go back. So imagine my joy when she woke me up on the third morning of French and African Art saying, 'I love camp.' Both of my kids loved it and look forward to some summer camp time spent with Ms. Maggie. I highly recommend any of Maggie's camps. She has a wonderful relaxed way with the kids that offers structure in a free and easy way."- Topaz
- May 17, 2013"Thank you for a wonderful and creative summer camp experience. My daughter enjoyed mixing science and art. She enjoyed hearing stories from Maggie, constantly exploring nature and then translating the exploration into final products. The showcase of artwork at the end of the week was well done and an excellent memory for our whole family. We recommend Wingspan studio for all ages!!"- barbieri343
- May 1, 2013"Maggie is great to work with. She is nice and easy-going, also flexible in working with parents and children for what they need for summer/vacation camps. My son took a French and Art camp last summer and he had a really nice time. I would definitely recommend Maggie!"- jaclynpat

- March 5, 2013"As an adult beginning French student, Madame Maggie's classes are just what I need: a relaxed, non-threatening, cooperative atmosphere that helps me to focus on learning a brand new language. Madame Maggie uses sound educational tools to teach the class including handouts, games, and songs. If your interest is basic communication with French speaking people, this is the class for you. I can now travel to Quebec and ask simple questions in shops and restaurants. And I love that Madame Maggie is a stickler for correct pronunciation! The best parts of the class are the time spent laughing and the camaraderie with the other class members. I can highly recommend Madame Maggie's French classes for anyone who wants to learn to speak, read and understand French."- deravarpa
- January 4, 2013"Wingspan Studio, a real working atelier and Madam Maggie create magic. This is what my daughter, who really likes going there says: 'I like going to Madam Maggie's. It was really nice. We painted with water colors and we were drawing and building things. The other kids there were really nice. We went outside and made a snowman too. Are we going back there tomorrow again.' I would highly recommend Wingspan Studio."- Dee Alizee
- December 7, 2012"My daughters attended Maggie's Thanksgiving Break Class and loved it! They had such an amazing time with her and doing projects together. They are definitely looking forward to coming again for Christmas Break."- Mansfieldview
- November 28, 2012"I have three children who have attended two of Maggie's summer art camps. They loved it! They came home each day excited to share their treasures and adventures with me. My six year old recounted everything she had learned about genes. My son waved his creation made from recyclables and my eldest daughter showed me her abstract self portrait. There was something for every age group and gender. I got to keep their amazing art work and be content knowing they were learning, exploring and having a blast. Maggie does an excellent job of helping the creative to flourish in a child. I would highly recommend any of her camps."- Sara Mecca
- November 14, 2012"Wingspan Studio is a truly inspiring and magical place! I ADORE the French Class I've been taking with Madame Maggie and am so glad to have found her and Wingspan to re-ignite my French! The format is conducive to meeting each student's learning needs and goals. Maggie uses a variety of teaching modalities to provide interest and accessibility. One enters to French music which creates an amazing ambiance and gets the students in the mood. With a variety of activities throughout the 1 1/2 hour class, time flies by. Maggie's gentle yet persistent pushes make one feel comfortable and confident to stretch one's abilities. The community she cultivates among all the students facilitates a fun learning experience, and the beautiful art surrounding us ups the overall experience. I highly recommend Wingspan Studio and Maggie!"- Jenny E

Not only did the mural reflect our mission but she did a wonderful job guiding the staff, helping them with questions and getting them comfortable with their artistic self. Many Kudos to Maggie!!"- Karen Ciechanowicz
- October 9, 2012"I took beginner French and intermediate French with Maggie for almost two years. When I started, I didn't know any French. Maggie's class was incredibly helpful and she gave me the tools and confidence to really pursue my dream. The classroom is informal (it's her art studio) and she is incredibly patient and talented in teaching the language. The book she uses is perfect for building the foundation for success. I would highly recommend Maggie and her class for those individuals wanting to learn French."- brianf

Her style is very captivating and it is no wonder that learners bond and feel quite comfortable with her very quickly. She allows for all voices to be heard and really helps learners tap into their creativity and help them to express it in a way that allows them to feel safe and respected.
