4-H stands for Head, Heart, Hands and Health. The basic philosophy behind the 4-H is that informal education can be a valued addition to a young person's learning processes. These programs are developed cooperatively in partnership the the US Department of Agriculture, UVM Extension and other land-grant colleges across the country and local communities. 4-H teaches youth leadership citizenship and life skills.

Vermont 4-H serves all 14 counties and offers projects in many areas including livestock, veterinary science, technology, engineering, food and nutrtion, gardening, sewing, arts and crafts, photography, shooting sports, archery, and more.

UVM Extension offers a plethora of opportunities for Vermont youths. Consider some of these programs for ways to get involved, meet new people and families, learn more about a particular topic or embrace an opportunity to better yourself:

"Great program for all youth to get involved with! Lots of clubs in the surrounding areas that work do projects, services, events, and meetings based around animals, sewing, photography, outdoor sports, and so many more. The UVM extension is great to work with and does a great jb supporting its youth"
