Art camp thematic weeks:
Nature Drawing Camp (June 23–27, 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.)
Artists will explore outdoor art activities with sketchbooks. Students will practice observation skills and experiment with dry media sketching and watercolor techniques. We will also venture into playful, nature-inspired solar printmaking, brushes, and weavings.
Comic and Drawing Camp (July 7–11, 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.)
Storytelling artists will draw their imaginative character designs, storyboards, and comic strips. We will explore different panel designs and ink techniques. We will be inspired by comics and graphic novel artists at the local library.
Animals in 3D and Stop Motion (July 14–18, 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.)
Campers will create 3D creatures and storyboards for stop-motion animation and design feature movie posters. Students will learn hands-on about various animator job roles, planning, design thinking, collaboration, and presentation skills. We will also explore hands-on zoetropes, thaumatropes, and flipbook group activities.
*Book Making and Painting (July 28–August 1, 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.)
*Waitlist option available for this week.
We will explore mixed-media painting techniques for lantern making and collaborative paper to use for our handmade artist books. Artists will walk away with one-of-a-kind art to decorate their rooms.
Note:
For all art camps, please dress for messes, pack snacks, and bring sunscreen for outdoor art breaks. Camps will conclude with an art show every Friday at 11:45 a.m. The Camp Director is a professionally trained artist and a highly qualified, licensed local art educator. She is happy to tailor instruction to meet your child’s unique needs and interests.
