Cross Vermont Trail
The Cross Vermont Trail is a project to build a multi-use, four season path across the width of Vermont; following the Winooski River and Wells River valleys.
The trail mainly follows the Winooski River valley from Burlington to Montpelier and then continues on north along Route 2. It's made up of local paths stitched together.

Trails are marked but you need to watch closely as it is a variety of trails.
There are several campgrounds along the route of the trail.
The Cross Vermont Trail is a shared use path. Expect to encounter others, some of whom may be using the trail in a different style than you do. Etiquette guidelines can be found here.
