Essex Cinemas is the most technically-advanced movie theater in the region. Their T-Rex Theater is the only Large-Format Theater in Vermont and is listed as such alongside IMAX and similar venues. The sixty-foot curved screen, 10,400 watt Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound System and Ultra-Bright capabilities provide the very best in video and audio presentation. The 400 seats are extra wide with Rocker Backs and Memory Foam to give you the best seat in the house, no matter where you choose to sit! T-Rex is only part of the picture at Essex Cinemas. Their Theater 1 is the second biggest theater in Vermont! The fifty-foot curved screen is positioned close to the steeper stadium seats to give you a fully immersive experience. All of our theaters are equipped with the latest in Digital Technology and we have six RealD 3D Theaters to bring the best and brightest 3D to life!  You can hold an event like a Birthday Party there with a theatre rental.

"Best cinema in chittenden county by far! Always the first choice for new releases and they even offer a large showing of old favorites. The TRex theatre is amazing!"

"Perfect place for kids, stadium seats, ample supply of booster seats and lots of early show times. Only downside is parking. "

"This is definitely our theatre of choice in the area. The parking is relatively easy, it is always quite clean, the staff is kind and patient, and the movie times are always plentiful and convenient. I LOVE the TRex theatre! We tend to hit up the matinees with the kids and we have never had to wait very long for tickets or concessions. "

"I personally love this theater because it is very large and located right in the essex shopping plaza, so its a one stop shop for shopping and a movie. I recently took my son to a movie. I was frustrated because the amount of people at the theater and they only had one ticket booth open. We had to wait in a very long line, then another long line at the consession stand. Being 20 minutes early, we ended up still missing the very beginning of the movie. It would be helpful for them to have more staff. Other than that, their prices are reasonable, food is good, seats are comfortable, and they even have a few arcade games to distract the kids while parents wait in line for tickets and food."

"This is our favorite movie theater. Parking is much easier than other theaters in the area. The seats are comfortable and it is not a problem if people sit in front of you. Everyone in the family can still see!!"

"The new Trex theatre lives up to its namesakebig! Not sure how many seats, but hundreds for sure. We had a hard time choosing where to sittoo many options. And they're leather too. Seats are comfortable and plenty of room in the aisle. The 3D glasses were comfortable for the adults and kids. Only small complaint is that the bathrooms are on the opposite side of the building so you may miss an extra scene or two if you need to use them. And the 9.25 ticket price for a child is a questionable premium."

"This movie theater is located in the shopping plaza across the street from the Essex Resort and Spa. We saw a Sunday afternoon matinee there and found the prices to be a little cheaper than else in Chittenden County. Also worth noting they offer discounts for certain local employees IBM, Fletcher Allen, All Banks, General Dynamics and for guests and employees of Smuggs. Check their web site for which days and if their are any restrictions."
