Vermont's First Parent Cooperative Preschool established in 1964.
They have been NAEYC accredited for their programs for children from 3 years through kindergarten age since 1998. They offer 2, 3 and 4 day programs. The 4-Day program is a Vermont State licensed kindergarten, and may include both preschool and kindergarten students.
In addition to their school year programs, SHS offers a series of affordable summer camps to engage children (ages 3-9) with art, and nature. Camps are open to SHS families and the general public.
Saxon Hill School is located in the heart of Jericho's historic district and is surrounded by natural beauty. Students get to explore the nearby Browns River, woods with walking trails, meadows, and hills, which in the winter becomes a great sledding hill. There is so much to explore at Saxon Hill School.

- April 15, 2012"My son attends Kindergarten at Saxon Hill School which is a parttime program. He can not get enough of Saxon Hill School and wishes he could be there full day! I love knowing he is in the longestrun parent cooperative in Vermont. This outstanding school has been providing an excellent program for nearly 50 years! It offers a winning balance of being playbased and childinitiated, within the teacher's framework of guidance and facilitation for each child's maximum learning. Children are revered in a community of respect, contribution and belonging. If you are searching for a program to care for and educate your whole child, Saxon Hill School is the one!"- mamame
- March 29, 2012"Both of my busy boys have attended both school and summer camps at Saxon Hill School and they have been just as pleased as we have with their experiences. The individuality of each child is celebrated and nourished. I love the child based learning and seeing where it takes the class. Curiosity isn't simply answered, it's explored. Both the interior and exterior spaces invite children to explore with all of their senses. Learning extends to all seasons with hikes in the fall, winter, and spring to see and learn about changes in the environment and how it affects animals and plantlife. The teachers are beyond phenomenal and incredibly creative. I believe I have learned as much as my children though perhaps in different ways! The sliding hill is always a hit as well as the real workbench! Fantastic and if I had another child, heshe would attend as well!"- 2busyboys
- January 16, 2012"I am a parent of two preschool age boys, and an elementary school teacher myself. Saxon Hill School gets my highest recommendation. Both of my sons are now attending for their second year of preschool. We are 100 happy with all aspects of their experience. The outdoor learning spaces are incredible. In our sons' class they write in journals each day. The project based learning is an important aspect of their school experience. The classroom space is very well set up. The parent cooperative aspect makes everyone feel part of their children's school experience. We feel so fortunate to have found Saxon Hill School for our children's first school experience!"- nwalsh
- April 18, 2011"Our son is currently attending Saxon Hill School in the 2day program and we couldn't be happier. The cooperative spirit of the school is unmatched by any other program. You truly are part of a family when your child attends school there. We're looking forward to our son transitioning into the 4day program next year with his little sister coming behind in the years to come. Enrolling him at this school was one of the best decisions we've ever made!"- tconti
- February 2, 2011"Saxon Hill is a wonderful school. Two of our children went there for preschool. The teachers are amazing...the children are loved, nurtured, appreciated and challenged. I think parents felt the same way. I learned so much about my own children and how they learn and grow from Saxon Hill. Our children are 8 and 10 now and we still refer to the wonderful things they did and we did at Saxon Hill. You are part of the family there!"- mkrupski
- January 17, 2011"Our older child is enrolled at Saxon Hill for Kindergarten, and we just signed our younger son up to attend Saxon Hill's two day program in the fall of 2011. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, the setting, and the parent cooperative piece. Check out the website, and see what Michele Campbell, educational director, has to say. You'll get chills. Truly, Saxon Hill is a gift to this community. At Saxon Hill, children are invited to grow, learn, and actively partcipate in life. Saxon Hill nurtures children and families toward invaluable insight, selfawareness, appreciation of the world and nature, and problemsolving skills to carry forward. Our family is better for our years at Saxon Hill."- clw
- January 9, 2011"My three children all began their lifelong love of learning at Saxon Hill School. The gentle guidance and knowledge of the outstanding teachers, thoughtfully planned curricula and the unique experience of being part of a parentcooperative made Saxon Hill School the best choice for our family. We have been fortunate to have been part of this school community and would encourage all to learn more about our wonderful school programs and fabulous teachers."- ntluongo
- January 8, 2011"Both of my boys have gone to Saxon Hill School. What a great place for children to learn and grow! The teahers are amazing! They help the children navigate their surroundings, not only accademically, but with their piers to become self confident individuals. The outdoor space is also one of its best features. They explore the wooded area behind the school, the river that runs near by, and a great meadow and hill side that becomes a wonderful sledding hill in the winter. I can't say enough great things about the teachers and school!"- wkbianca
- January 25, 2010"All three of my children attended Saxon Hill School, and I can't say enough wonderful things about it! SHS understands and values each child's individuality and nourishes every child's sense of self and community. Curiosity, exploration, and discovery are front and center in this Reggio Emilia based preschool. The teachers are fantastic, and you just can't beat the environment, which includes a lovely, peaceful indoor space and an outdoor environment which includes a playground, a sledding hill, large and small woods, a nearby park with trails, a river, and marshlands! We love this school!!! Oh, and the summer camps offered by Saxon Hill School are awesome as well!"- momof3
