- September 8, 2020"Fantastic hike with amazing views. It is approximately two miles each way on shady trails which are good for hot days. The trail was originally a carriage road so it is a little wider than other trails you might be used to. In the 1870s it was used to transport guests to the summit where it was once the site of the Grand View Hotel. The only thing left from the hotel now is a cement slab which is the perfect place to enjoy a snack or lunch and take in the stunning views at the top. This hike is challenging but not too bad. We saw families with kids of all ages and parents with younger ones in backpacks."- missmagpie

It took us just under 2 hours with a 20 minute break at the top, but my daughter is a pretty fast hiker. Dogfriendly with a leash. Make sure and stop at the Main Scoop in Vergennes for ice cream on the way home!"- sbo
