The origins of Hip-Hop are rooted in the upliftment, consciousness raising, and creative expression of the Black and Brown community. This talk, The Art of Creating Community Through Hip-Hop, will center these themes, provide historical background of the elements of Hip-Hop, and discuss them in context to the current times, with the hopes of inspiring a revival of the spirit of Hip-Hop as a community-building art form.

Will Kasso Condry, co-founder of Juniper Creative Arts, speaks in depth about resilience, authenticity, and the importance of keeping art and creativity at the center of one’s life. Using personal examples and life experiences, he is able to connect and resonate with audiences of young people and adults alike. He seamlessly combines insightful anecdotes and practical takeaways to illuminate the subject matter.

Juniper Creative Arts is a family collective of passionate artists, educators, storytellers, and healing arts practitioners creating at the intersection of spirituality, identity, culture, and community through ancestral practices and the lens of Hip-Hop culture.

This program is sponsored by The South Burlington Library Foundation.

This event will be held in the Community Room on Saturday, February 22nd at 1:00pm.

"My son and I went to a free concert by Jon Gailmor at the SB Library last Sunday and it was great! If you ever get a chance to see him perform, please do. He offers an all ages show ages ranges from 099 and everyone was included and seemed pleased. Between his funny lyrics and audience participation, there is really something for everyone. Thank you SB library!"
