- March 28, 2013"It should be made clear that if you are considering your child to attend this school, they should be prepared that they will have certain expectations, such controlling and behaving oneself, being quiet, listening and respecting the teacher, following through with what is asked. If you are not sure, I would go and visit the studio. The Ballet School of Vermont is generally very welcoming to letting people observe their classes. You, as a parent, are also expected to put forth some of your time in volunteer work for the ballet credits every year such as helping behind the scenes at one of the shows, putting up ads in communities, volunteering at fundraisers etc. My daughter has been at this dance school for 3 years, and it has been a growing experience for her. Her teachers challenge her, and at the beginning of the year she may complain that she can't do something, but they practice the same things over and over, practice makes permanent. When I see her at the beginning of the year, and the change by the end of the year, there is growth there. It teaches so much about discipline, about how carry yourself, and how to work together. The teacher is very active with the kids, she corrects them kindly, she knows their potential and wants to extract that and more out of them to help them do their very best. The payoff is when they put on the production in June. I can't begin to even tell you the amount of work that Mary Ellen puts in, to pull this production off. It is a visual treat for the eyes, and never fails to disappoint. The children love to learn the dance, the beautiful costumes, and the fun of performing. If this sounds like a perfect fit for your son or daughter, go forward! Do not hesitate! They have a wonderful staff who is helpful and kind if you have any questions!"- MissWendy39

The teachers have a true passion for the art of dance and encourage through their own abilities and teaching techniques that their students find that same passion, respect and dedication to the art of ballet."- denablossey
