  "a good place to spend a hot summer day. The entrance fees are fair. the beach is mostly maintained. My kids love the swings. The restrooms are usually clean. grills and picnic tables are plentiful. it does get crowded on a hot day"

  "this is a great beach, very family friendly. The bathrooms are clean and so is the beach. The kids can walk out a good distance in the water without it getting too deep. Always fun to build sand castles and hang out with the family. Plenty of grills and picnic tables available. great place for a company BBQ as well.."

  "Perfect beachswim spot for families with very young children who are nonswimmers. The shallow inches deep water goes on for what feels like forever. It does tend to be very weedy though, which can make things feel weird on your feet at you wade. Parking is easy, grills, snack bar, restrooms, all available. "

  "We absolutely LOVE the Sand Bar State Park! My children are 10yrs and 5yrs old. We have been spending a lot of time at this beach this summer. It provides LOTS of shady spots and the beach is clean! The water is very shallow, perfect for wading out and swimming around. My children LOVE it here because they can bring all their flotation devices, or rent canoes, and boats, etc. It can get crowded on the weekends, but the beach is long, and there is a huge grassy area, with lots of parking. Our favorite thing to do on the weekends is to go around 5pm. The crowds have mostly gone home, the beach is open until sundown, so there is still plenty of time for a picnic dinner and a dip in the lake!"

  "Our favorite summer destination!! The beach is sandy and long and the shallow water makes it perfect for young kids to swim. I find even on busy days there is always a spot to park our stuff and plenty of room to swim. The facilities are convenient and there are plenty of grills, picnic tables, and shade! "

  "I really like Sandbar in the summerit's great when you have small kids. The bathrooms are convenient and it's not a long walk from the parking lot. The biggest negative for me is that it opens at 10am, I wish would open a little earlier."

  "This is our favorite park for swimming! The shallow sandy beach stretches out to the buoys where it's over the head of my teen and preteen kids. The sand is perfect for sandcastles, moats, and boats. The snack bar is great when it's open but sometimes it's not, so call ahead or pack a meal. Also, keep your food secure from the very talented seagulls! It's a pack inpack out park so bring a trash bag. Though we've never used them, they also have boat rentals, check out the website for more information. The water is warm even in June because it's shallow there, the beach and bathrooms are clean, and the views are gorgeous. Not a better place to spend a sunny summer day! "

  "Our favorite beach to go to. Family friendly, and I love the shallow water. CAUTION Call before you go. Sometimes test results, particularly after a lot of rain, cause the state to discourage swimming in the water due to bacteria or other things found. They test often, so it feels safe to swim there. But, it's a long haul to get there and find out it is closed. Otherwise, well worth the drive. We love it at Sandbar."

  "I'm actually not a fan of the sandbar, but it's mainly because I don't like crowds. Positives Snackbar Play area Restrooms Rentals Picnic tables and grills Negatives Blackflies are plentiful Because it's such a popular beach, the restrooms aren't always the cleanest The water is so shallow that you have to walk out so far at least a 14 mile, by the time the water hits your hips you're in the seaweed, another negative part about that is if you have kids since they have to walk out so far for it to be deepenough, if something went wrong, it would take way too long to get out there."

  "There are plenty of amenities at the Sand Bar snack bar, showers, games, picnic areas, BBQ pits, etc. The swimming is perfect for young kids. The grounds are impressively kept. "

  "We were here almost every week last summer! Perfect for the smaller kids because the water is so shallow for so far. Like previous reviews, I agree there is plenty of shade and picnic tables. Pretty large restrooms and a concession stand help. We usually went during the week and there was never a huge crowd."

  "Sandbar is great for families with small children. The water is shallow and warm and the facilities are quite good as well. The park is easy to find with plenty of parking. At the peak of the summer the beach can get very crowded, particularly on weekends. If you want a break from all the noise, you can take a short drive over to Niquette Bay State Park, which has a nice beach, but fewer facilities. "

  "Because of the sand bar, the water level is very low. Kids can walk out at least 100150' making this is an ideal spot to go with little ones. Plenty of picnic tables and shade as well."
