Why? To raise money for the treatment and cure of Celiac Disease

A little back story...

My name is Annika Loucks. I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease, after suffering with excruciating stomach pains since I was 8 or maybe even younger. I am 17 now. I learned very quickly which foods I could have and which I needed to avoid. How to read labels and words to look for where gluten hides. Going out to eat and traveling is the worst. Many of the restaurants my family and I would go to offered gluten-free dishes, but when we informed them that I have Celiac Disease, they didn't know what that was or the special precautions they would need to take to prepare my meal. I live in a very small town, so there are very few options to eat out near me, and the fear of cross-contamination usually makes me decide to eat at home instead. The best part of all of this is that I know I am not alone. I know there are others in my community and state who deal with the same things that I do every day. My goal for this fundraiser is to not only raise money for the Celiac Disease Foundation, but to also raise awareness of the disease. I hope to walk into a restaurant one day, tell the server I have Celiac Disease, and not be treated like I am contagious. I believe the more we talk about it, the more normalized it will become, and hopefully, more restaurants will add Celiac friendly dishes to their menus.I appreciate each and every one of you for taking the time to read my back story and your consideration of donating to my fundraiser either by attending my event or by making a monetary donation.
