The Brookfield Ice Harvest and Mid-Winter-Fest will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Brookfield Floating Bridge and Hippo Park on Rte. 65 in Brookfield. The event includes a demonstration of ice-harvest tools and techniques from the 19th and early 20th centuries, together with the opportunity to cut an ice block yourself.
Sledding, skating, broom-ball will also be available, conditions permitting, of course, as well as activities for little kids, even brownies and hot cocoa.
This is a free, outdoor event for the whole family, so dress warmly and come to Brookfield for some good old-fashioned fun! Prizes will be awarded at noon for folks who are wearing the most Vermont-made winter gear, so get out your Vermont Gloves, Darn Tough socks, Skida hats, Johnson Woolen Mills stuff, hand-made knits, and more.
