- August 13, 2012"Super fun downtown park. The views of the lake are stunning, the playground is one of my son's favorites and lunch and ice cream at Beansies right on the edge of the park is a great way to top it all off. Parking can be difficult if you go on a weekend, but definitely worth it if you can find a way to get there. "- paddlekat
- August 17, 2011"One of my favorites in the summer. This is a wonderful park with great places to walk, play and eat. Beansies is right there if you forget snacks. The BPD office is right there if you need a bathroom. Lake Champlain is right there if you want to see boats. It's a fabulous place when it's sunny. If you go in the morning, it can be windy by the lake, so bring an extra layer just in case."- mpc
- September 14, 2010"Maybe the best free view of Lake Champlain that Burlington has to offer. Until last year, when our kids suddenly started getting into a variety of other activities, we could be found at Battery Park, at least every other week. In the summer there is the institution known as Beansie's Bus that is an old school bus converted into a hamburgercreamee stand. Thursday nights in July also bring some awesome bands from around the world. In the wintertime, if it is cold enough the Department of Parks and Recreation floods a small portion for skating. But for the kids, the public play ground is hands down one of the best. Plus there are always the cannons and howitzers the cannons anyway were part of the batteryfort that once stood on this site and was used to fight back the British that the kids can crawl on if they get bored with the slides and other standard playground equipment.
