Montpelier Bike Rodeo

Beautiful days are here and Montpelier's Complete Streets Committee wants young cyclists to be ready to ride! Join for a fun bike skills-circuit for children ages ~5-13 years. Please note this is not a "learn to ride a bike" event, but a "ride more safely and skills-building" event.

This event is free, but each youth will need a working bike or scooter, helmet, and to be accompanied by an adult. A selection of helmets to offer is available if needed.

Participants will visit a series of skill stations including a bike and helmet check, rules of the road, starting and stopping, riding in a straight line, navigating turns, practicing the rules of the road and more. We’ll provide the fun instruction, a certificate of completion, and other bike themed takeaways!

Melanie Grubman will be assisting with design and coordination of the skills course. Melanie has 15 years of experience as a Safe Routes to Schools Coordinator, including organization of innumerable bike rodeos. Mostly recently, Melanie has a Community Workshop Leader and Program Coordinator for Local Motion.
