- June 25, 2024"Our family loves Montshire! We have children ages 2-11 and they all enjoy going. My children are autistic and we find the best time to go is when they first open. When it starts to get a little busy, we head outside to play and hike on the trails. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy. Swimsuits in the Summer for water play outside. Better than any splash pad!"- Jasmine Wible
- June 25, 2024"This place is a real gem. Its my favorite place to take my son. My only qualm is my kiddo doesnt like a drive thats over 35 min and The Montshire is about 1.5 hours away from us. What they need to do is make an annex close to Rutland. The watercourse is unbelievable. Must go in the summer."- Rachel Stratton
- June 24, 2024"We love visiting the Montshire Museum, especially in the summer time when their water feature is going. This museum is a great place for people of all ages!"- Maria
- June 24, 2024"We love the Montshire! Especially in the summer with the splash pad. Fun for all ages."- Morgan
- June 24, 2024"This is one of our favorite places to bring our little one! Weve made it a tradition to at LEAST visit on his birthday, but also try to make the trek as much as we can. We absolutely love the closed off section for the littles, and while it can still be a bit crazy on a busy day, its so much easier to manage our little one, yet theres still plenty for him to do that he never gets sick of! As hes gotten older hes also been able to go and explore other sections of the museum, even though he doesnt quite understand all of it just yet. Overall, such a great place for a family day rain or shine, and its so fun to end the day in the gift shop to check out the rotating sets of toys and activities!"- Taylor
- June 24, 2024"We have been going to the Montshire since my kids were a baby and 3 year old. They are now 4 and 8 and we still go regularly! They absolutely love it they love to see the regular exhibits as well as the new ones. It is small enough to not be a stressful experience and overcrowded but still tons for everyone to do. I love the bathroom renovations to make them more family friendly! The outdoor area is great in the warm weather. We will be going again this summer!"- Chelsie
- June 24, 2024"Our favorite museum. We love the bubbles, the fountains and the woodland playground."- Michelle Page

- June 23, 2024"We love to make the trek for a day trip! I would get a membership if we lived closer. Wonderful things to do indoors and outdoors for a variety of ages. My kids are 2 and 5 and we do well there. Pack a lunch or pick one up at King Arthur flour before you arrive picnic or eat inside and stay longer, you could definitely make a full day of it."- Katie L.
- August 12, 2017"I took my 6 year old daughter to the museum and she loved it! There's so much to do and so many new things to learn! I myself was very interested to read things and see things! Very cool place and I would definitely recommend to other people with or without children!"- Cillap
- June 8, 2017"So much fun! My three boys loved all of the water features, they had a blast!"- Courtney
- August 11, 2015"Lots of hands-on and interactive exhibits. Go in the summer time when the outside water exhibit is open. It is tons of fun and a great way to stay cool."- carmengeorgevt@gmail.com
- January 6, 2015"A great destination museum! First off there is plenty of FREE parking. Step inside and prepare to have fun! I've visited multiple times with my three daughters between ages 4-13 and each time each of them has had fun. The exhibits are hands-on and daily there are extra FREE hands-on learning labs upstairs, be sure to check the schedule when you arrive...but don't worry, all events are announced over an intercom so you don't need to keep checking your watch. We love to visit on hot days and bring a swimsuit to go out back and splash around. Pair with a visit to King Arthur Bakery and Cafe for some good eats and you've had a wonderful day!"- betzigirl
- April 18, 2014"Nothing but good things to say about this place, with 2 little kids, it's a great place for all seasons. A good place to go when we're feeling cabin fever in the winter and a great place to splash around in the summer. Also love how close it is to King Arthur Flour's factory store, a nice place to go for lunch after the museum. We drive a 1.5 one way to get there and are members, because it's worth the trip!"- ceddunn
- April 17, 2014"The Montshire Museum is a wonderful way to spend the day! I wasn't sure it would be worth the drive but boy, I couldn't have been more wrong! There's so much to see and do there. We loved the outside areas as well. A must-do for families!"- ahoppe
- August 22, 2013"Once a summer we bring our children to the Montshire. My son is four and loves the outside water area. This was the first summer that we have been able to do the walking trails. I love the bird watching area where they label the birds and give you information about the most common ones. The bubbles are always a hit for our children. I wish they had more of a craft area besides the daily crafts because inside the children lose interest fast. I can imagine that in the winter it's only a half day stop."- Dadoftheyear1
- August 22, 2013"We recently visited Montshire Museum of Science with friends. We had four boys- ages 7, 10, and two 12 year olds. They all had an absolute blast. There was something for everyone! We will be going back again very soon! What a treasure!"- traceywilliamsvt
- August 21, 2013"We took our 9 year old son and 2 1/2 year old daughter to the Montshire last weekend and they both loved it! The hands on activities in the museum were a huge hit for both of them and our 2 year old could have played in the water features outside all day! Wish we lived a little closer so we could go more often (our 9 year old even said this!)!! We will definitely go again next summer!!"- theknapps01
- August 19, 2013"I went to the museum with my 2 kiddos ages 4 and 1.5 and my niece who is 2. They loved it! The play place inside was a hit, as was the water feature outside. I'd advise changing into bathing suits before going outside as it was a bit of a trek to get back into the building once you went all the way down to the water feature."- becky2911
- August 19, 2013"My family of four really enjoyed this museum. The water feature outside is just pure joy for the kiddos, so don't forget swimwear and towels. It has something for everyone. My personal favorite was the glassed bee hive."- katiebug_1530
- August 19, 2013"This is a great place to spend an afternoon. Lots of things to do and things to see... great place for kids that like to explore.. also love the water area outside."- lini15237
- August 7, 2013"We (ages 2, 4, 6, 8 and 33) had so much fun! So much to do, you can't do it all in just one trip, or even two trips. Go ahead and get a pass you'll want to return! (If you get a day pass, you can buy a membership at the end of your day & they apply the day's admission price toward the cost). We made a minute long video of our most recent trip. Yay science!"- graceahmed
- April 24, 2013"We finally made it to the Montshire Museum yesterday and I cannot wait to return. Our three boys are ages 4, 7, and 9 and there were more than enough interesting, hands on activities for each of them to do. I have never seen a better little kids area in a museum -- the Montshire's Science Park" for 5 and under is extraordinarily well thought out. The outdoor water space was not yet open but we went on a wonderful walk on one of their trails and spent time at some of the other outdoor activities. And their current exhibit of showing How Things are Made was appropriate for all age levels. We spent hours at the museum and still look forward to going back to do some of the things we didn't get to.""- elzywick
- January 25, 2013"My three year old loved it and so did I. Lots of great interactive exhibits and we could spend all day outside in the water. It would be nice in the winter, but summer is really the time to be there. Echo doesn't even compare."- deeberle
- January 22, 2013"We love the Montshire Museum! There are lots of hands on activities for kids of all ages. Our favorite time of the year to visit is during the summer months as there are lots of walking trails and the splash area."- maememories
- January 21, 2013"Our family went here for the first time a few months ago and we had a blast! We can't wait to go again."- rebowman
- August 18, 2011"This is a great museum. It kept my 8 year old busy for hours and is well worth the drive from Burlington. He really enjoyed the outdoor water space and it is nice to have both indoor and outdoor activities."- TricksMom
- August 15, 2011"The Montshire is truly our favorite museum to visit within state. I have two children, ages four and 11, and they both enjoyed our day here. My son was amazed with the miniature aquarium, while my daughter could have spent hours watching the ant exhibit. And through some determination, she was able to locate the queen ant! The outdoor water play area and hiking trails were also really nice. This was our second visit to the museum, and surely will not be our last!"- VTMom
- June 12, 2011"We recently bought a pass here because this museum is the best. There is a great country store down the road for lunches, so we usually spend the day (4 hours or so...which is pretty much a day trip after travel time). The hiking trails are fantastic, and in the summer they have these great water exhibits outside. We really love it here, and best of all you can watch your child(ren) learn while having fun!"- jacknoodle
- March 7, 2011"I took my kids to Montshire Museum of Science in Norwich VT this weekend. They loved it! My 20 month old loved playing in the bubbles, and also he really enjoyed the Blue Man group set up."- Ktallini36
- September 15, 2010"This is the best kids museum in VT in our opinion. We've made the drive from Burlington area several times! Great hands on activities."- native VTer
- March 5, 2010"Totally worth the drive! There's enough to do here to make it a day trip between the walking trails, the museum, toddler/baby playing area, and the outdoor water space. There are picnic tables outside for eating at. There's something to do for kids of every age!"- rockinrobin
- August 27, 2009"Totally worth the drive from the Burlington area. Great fun for 4 and 6 year old. Very close to Dartmouth/Hanover too."- visitorfromNC
- March 14, 2008"It is the perfect destination when you just have to get out of town. Our kids feel like it's a mini vacation. There is always so much to keep them captivated."- Owl
- February 25, 2008"At only an 1hr 20 minutes away this destination is a definite daytripper. Great indoor typical kids museum stuff that makes children think and use their minds. There's a large changing exhibit space upstairs so check back often to see what's there. But the real bonus is the outdoor water learning space. Great on a hot day! Make sure to bring towels and a change of clothes. There is not a lot of shade so you will need your sunscreen. Also note that there is no cafe, no vending machines. Bring plenty of food and drink. There are plenty of places to picnic. If you want to make lunch/dinner into a mini-adventure head over to King Arthur Flour Company which is just 5 minutes away! They now have a small cafe and enlarged store (fun for Mom!)"- missmagpie
