Apple season is arriving in the Northeast Kingdom, and the Peacham Farmers Market is marking the occasion with a brand-new celebration. On Saturday, September 6, from 1 to 4 p.m., the market will host Apples & Arts, a lively afternoon of food, music, and community on the historic Peacham Green.

This all-folks celebration will showcase the best of the late-summer harvest and local creativity. Visitors can enjoy live apple pressing and fresh-pressed cider, sample local apples, and savor dishes from Stag & Thistle. Market stalls will be filled with flowers, vegetables, garlic, meats, mushrooms, bread, pottery, woven goods, and lathe-turned wooden bowls, alongside sweet treats such as maple cotton candy and icy desserts.

Entertainment will feature live music by Tim Jennings & Ethan Azarian + Icarus Tyree (Local Folk Orchestra, Bread and Puppet Circus) and on-the-spot portraits by artist Larry Golden. The Hard Pressed Community Printshop will also be on hand as a special guest.

A highlight of the day is the 1st Annual Apples & Arts Apple Pie Contest. Home bakers from across the region are invited to bring their best creations for a chance to win prizes and bragging rights. Pies must be home-baked and labeled with ingredients. To enter, bakers should email their name, pie title, and phone number to peachamfarmersmarket@gmail.com in advance, and deliver their pie to the Market Info Tent by 1:00 p.m. on the day of the event. Judging begins at 2:30 p.m., with winners announced at 3:30 p.m.
