Sparrow Plein Air Festival

Sparrow Plein Air Festival is open to artists of all ages. Youth passes start at $10 with an adult artist pass, making it a fun way for families to spend the weekend making art outdoors together in Middlebury.

Join us for a weekend of painting, creativity, and connection—outdoors in beautiful Middlebury, Vermont! Sparrow Plein Air Festival is a three-day painting and sketching event open to artists of all ages, levels, and mediums. Whether you’re a seasoned plein air painter or picking up a brush for the first time, you’re invited to capture the world around you in real time alongside a welcoming creative community.

What to Expect

• A choose-your-own-adventure weekend of outdoor art-making
• Optional demonstrations and on-site guidance each day for beginners
• A curated map of scenic sites, with tips and amenity info
• Artist welcome packets with water, snacks, and local goodies
• Optional opportunity to sell your artwork in our Wet Paint Sale
• Entry into giveaways and access to exclusive local discounts

Event Dates

• Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, June 12–14, 2026
• Friday : Join us for an artist welcome gathering at the Swift House Inn in the evening!
• Saturday and Sunday: Paint all day!
  • Check-in begins at 9:00 AM each day at Sparrow Art Supply in Middlebury, VT. Artists are welcome to paint through 5:00 PM, depending on the site.

Pricing

• 1-Day Pass: $45
• 2-Day Pass: $65
• Artists aged 17 and under may register for $10 a day with adult registration, with junior supply bundles available for purchase at check in. All participants under the age of 18 must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times during the festival.

Once you register, leading up to the festival, you’ll receive a prep guide with supply suggestions, location notes, and tips to get the most out of the weekend. We can't wait to paint with you! PS, In case of rain, we'll have a list of covered or semi-sheltered spots to keep you creating comfortably.
