"Both of my kids ages 7 and 4 love this camp! It is a wonderful facility that teaches them about sustainability through farming with hands on activities. It is their favorite camp each summer."

"I can't say enough good things about this camp! My 4 year old went to the half day last year at the end of the summer. We were on a wait list and got a call a week before they had an opening. It was the afternoon session which wasn't our first choice but we took it. What a great time! My daughter couldn't wait to go every day, the staff was excellent with all the kids! Since pick up was typically when they were starting to give the final feeding to all the animals we would stay and feed the animals and even walk Bella the milking cow out to pasture for the night. Since she was at the camp she knew all the people that worked there. They were all so friendly and called her by name. She really felt like it was her second home. She was really shy at first but by the end she was showing me how to milk the cow and goat, how to carefully find eggs and where to put them, and how to brush the sheep. She spun wool and made a bracelet she didn't want to ever take off. She talked about all the animals and hiked through their woods. I think every kid should experience this at least once. It's truly an experience that will stick with my daughter for her life."

"We are members at Shelburne Farms and visit there often. This year my oldest went to the 45 year olds camp and he had a fabulous time. The curriculum is very well geared for kids this age and keeps the kiddos engaged. They spent a lot of time in the barnyard and with the animals. This is one of the best camps in Vermont and really gave my son another layer of personal attachment to one of the best resources in Vermont."

"This is my child's favorite camp three summers running. All day she is engaged and outside learning things about nature and being active! Even when it was raining this year, but still hot, the kids and adults put on their suits and did magic swimming outside in the rain since they could not get into the lake! So Fun!!"

"Great camp experience for my 4 year old. He was happy to be left every morning which is not always the case for him so the counselors were obviously doing something right. He came home with something to teach us each day, and looked forward to going back. I will enter the lottery again next year for both of my boys."

"Overall this is a great camp experience. I think I also may have loved it more than the kids did as one other reviewer wrote. The lottery situation is unfortunate, as you have to put all other camp planning on hold until you hear if your child has gotten in."

"We have been lucky to get into this camp 3 out of the past four years. My daughters have absolutely loved the Adventure Camp. This year, it was the best camp of the season for my four year old. The staff is so nurturing with the kids. So worth having to deal with the lottery."

"I think that I was more excited about this camp than my children ever were. After jumping through the lottery hoops, and finally getting in I had to drag my kids there and finally gave up! I think that part of the problem was that the summer program hosted a large number of kids and at least whild we were there there was little consistancy and a bit too much chaos. My children didn't have the same instructors from day to day, they were split up and didn't know any other kids so it was hard for them to establish any relationships at all during the week. I couldn't convince them to do this one again if I wanted to!"

"My kids participated in the camp during the year until they outgrew it, and in the summer for many many years. I have a son and a daughter and they both loved it. You really get an insiders view of the farm they feed and play with the farm animals and have great adventures. This is a very handsonnature experience that your kids will always remember. The one negative I have is that the lottery system can be very frustrating"

"These camps are great if you are lucky enough to be chosen in the lottery. If not, as an alternative, try the Preschool adventure program that runs throughout the school year or a vacation camp during Feb or April break if you still want the Shelburne Farms Camp experience. Your camper should definitely be the outdoorsy type. Lots of time spent hiking and walking around the grounds. They also spend time in and around the barn and with the animals. Be prepared for some tired kids at the end of the day. You can't send enough snacks or drinks with them."
