The Current

Details
Located in Stowe, The Current was established in 1981, growing out of a community project to save a historic building and use it for the benefit of the community. Their mission is to enhance the human experience through the visual arts. They provide year-round visual art exhibitions in galleries and an annual outdoor sculpture show, Exposed, throughout the town; public programs such as lectures, panels, and film screenings primarily linked to our exhibitions; and progressive and innovative arts education programs for all ages. In recent years, they evolved the arts education initiatives through an Interpretive Learning Program and expanded studios that create hands-on learning experiences.
The Current truly makes a difference in the lives of our children and in the lives of artists. It makes a difference to art lovers, and those who are experiencing art for the first time. Art is change. Art is hope. And Art is a core value of this community.
Summer Camp
Join The Current for an exciting summer of art and adventure! In weekly camps, professional artists and educators work with small groups of campers to create one-of-a-kind experiences. The low staff-to-student ratio, a phenomenal team of Teaching Artists, and an incredible cohort of interns ensure campers are supported in every aspect of their experience. Through a blend of high-quality art instruction, STEAM-focused projects, outdoor exploration, and team-building activities, they create a holistic camp experience for all learning styles. The Current is thrilled to offer ten weeks of summer camp programming in 2025 with options throughout the summer for PreK-10th grade.
