Turtle Island Children's Center

Founded in 1982, Turtle Island Children’s Center is Central Vermont's leading early childhood school, serving over 70 children from 55 families. Its nature-based curriculum emphasizes environmental education, social-emotional growth, and hands-on learning. Turtle Island’s emergent curriculum is guided by children’s interests, encouraging exploration and discovery. Nestled between North Branch Nature Center and Hubbard Park, the site has been integral to fostering a love for nature and creativity among children since the center moved to Elm Street in 1990.

Turtle Island Children's Center Summer Camp 

This camp is for children entering 1st-4th grades. Camp runs for seven weeks in the summer.

Each week will have its own unique theme, such as Bugs, Fungi, Birds, Storytelling, and Nature-inspired Art! Campers enjoy on-site games and activities each day before they take off for the trails! With backpacks packed for day-long adventures, children will explore the woods, fields, and paths surrounding our Country Club Road location. Equipped with practical tools for hands-on fun, campers will have the chance to engage with the natural materials in the forest, splash in streams, run through the woods, and form new relationships with each other and with the land.
