Join Audubon Vermont and Essex Pride are partnering to celebrate Pride Month in the woods! We will walk a slow-paced hike around St. Michael's College Natural Area together. Audubon will provide binoculars and bird guides for anyone who would like to bird during our hike. St. Michael's College Natural Area is a birding hotspot with over 180 species of feathered friends including Great Blue Heron, Pileated Woodpecker, Eastern Wood Peewee, Wood Duck, and more! Our route will take us through wetlands, sandplain forest, floodplain forest, and fields. The area is used recreationally by the public and for research and education by the college. This event is great for folks of all ages. If under 18, please come accompanied by an adult. Dogs welcome, but must stay leashed.
Hike Details: 3-3.5 miles of flat trails, mostly packed dirt with occasional tree roots and rocks. We will take a slow, birding pace and be on foot for the full hour.
Recommended Gear: Sturdy, comfortable close-toed hiking or trail shoes, sunhat, and bug or tick spray. Option to bring your own binoculars if you prefer.
Location: Parking is limited, so we have capped hike registration to 15. Please consider carpooling with friends and family.
We will meet by the trail kiosk at 11:30am!
