Vermont Literacy Network

Vermont Literacy Network is an early literacy organization on a mission to connect our community one word at a time! VLN offers comprehensive student, professional, and community programming that are deeply rooted in structured literacy practices and the science of reading. Services are available both virtually and in-person at our Bristol facility. Whether you’re a student, educator, or community member, the Network provides the tools and support needed to foster a literacy-rich Vermont!

Summer Camps

Vermont Literacy Network’s eight, half-day summer camps for children ages 3-6 and 7-10 run Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Bristol, VT. Campers will dive into creative projects like making comic books, exploring illustration, and discovering storytelling through music and dance. With engaging indoor and outdoor activities and small group sizes for individualized support, these camps inspire a love for storytelling in a fun, nurturing environment.

Comic Creator Camp | June 23-27, 9:00am-12:00pm (Ages 7-10)

Your child will explore their favorite comics and graphic novels while learning to create their own, complete with awesome characters, engaging stories, and beautiful illustrations!

Dinosaur Story Camp | June 30-July 3, 9:00am-12:00pm (Ages 3-6)

Your dino-lover will stomp, roar, and practice the alphabet through exciting dinosaur-themed crafts, games, and activities!

HERstory Camp | July 7-11, 9:00am-12:00pm (Ages 7-10)

Your child will discover the stories of strong, trailblazing women, practice research and writing, and collaborate on creative projects like performing a play, writing a book, and more!

Music & Dance Camp | July 14-18, 9:00am-12:00pm (Ages 3-6)

This fun, high-energy camp explores how storytelling can be done through music and dance, and helps your child build early language and literacy skills, like rhyming!

Fantasy & Magic Camp | July 21-25, 9:00am-12:00pm (Ages 7-10)

Your child will step into a fantasy world filled with wizards, dragons, and magic of all kinds through crafts and writing projects!

Imagination Camp | July 28-August 1, 9:00am-12:00pm (Ages 3-6)

Perfect for little artists! Your child will experiment with paint, clay, scissors and glue, and more to explore how illustrators and artists tell stories through their creations.

Young Authors Camp | August 4-8, 9:00am-12:00pm (Ages 7-10)

Your child will become an author by writing fun stories, playing word games, and learning how to bring their ideas to the page. They'll work through the writing process from brainstorming to publishing, ending the week with a book release party!

Ready, Set, Read! Kindergarten Readiness Camp, 9:00am-12:00pm | Aug 11-15 (Ages 3-6)

This camp is the perfect opportunity for your preschooler to get a headstart on the skills they'll be learning in Kindergarten! Through hands-on crafts and games, they'll practice the alphabet, writing their name, rhyming, and so much more.
